Next steps for Peppermint

This article and the 8 minute video really sums up where Peppermint is headed in the future. In the next 4 weeks I will be interviewed by a local magazine to talk about my process and what it's like to be a designer/maker in today's economy.

Remodeling

Here are some photos from work in progress. When I took over the store it had carpeting in it. I don't personally like carpeting so I decided to remove it. Once a removed we found that there were tiles underneath it. We decided to remove the tiles as well.
Here are some pics of Anna, Dave , Mikey and Josean helping with it. I love these guys!

Have news to share

What started in my basement as a Master's thesis project to a hobby to a dream to a reality: Peppermint will finally have a retail space in Rochester, NY. More to come tomorrow.

Recent visit to NYC: Met with Christopher Collins from PR

Chris is such a sweetie!
During my recent visit to NYC on my usual fabric hunt, I somehow landed at a luxury showcase of designers. I was walking around observing work and mini runway shows when I immediately spotted Christopher Collins booth. His booth was understated but very sophisticated. I looked through his new Fall 2012 collection which was a combination of knits, very well structured jackets, kimono like sweaters and suit pants. The color palette was burgundy, browns, black and navy.

I had the opportunity to speak with him and his manager who talked to me about the collection and overall journey through PR.

Not only did I feel really happy that I spoke with him but really inspired to take my own work to a new level. Chris was humble, sweet and incredibly gracious- qualities I adore in  a designer. His personality was shining through all his work which demonstrated quality, luxury, high fashion and femininity with amazing fit.
